Productivity solutions
Overcoming numerous difficulties and challenges, in 2023, industrial manufacturers in Lang Son province actively approached the market and boosted production. Hence, the Industrial Production Index rose by 7.21% year on year by the end of November 2023 and by 7.68% by the end of December 2023.
Many miners, industrial manufacturers and industrial processors proactively launched solutions to improve the quality of corporate governance, concentrated on applying advanced technologies to production; changed production and business strategies; and sought and expanded markets. For example, by introducing various plans and options to enhance product quality and boost sales, Na Duong Coal Company exceeded the target assigned by Vietnam National Coal, Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin): Extracting nearly 700,000 tons of coal, 100,000 tons more than the full-year plan and supplying 565,000 tons of clean coal, 5.2% higher than the plan.
The production output of large industrial manufacturers all exceeded their targets. Specifically, in 2023, nine out of 13 key industrial products of the province had higher production than in 2022. Brick output reached 253 million products, up 1.0% year on year. The output of wooden boards and forest-originated products was up 1.9% to 134,000 cubic meters. Salt output was 710,000 tons, up 36.2%. The province's industrial production index advanced 7.68% from 2022, slightly higher than the target.
Speeding up industrial infrastructure construction
The province has effectively developed local industrial zones. In 2023, VSIP Lang Son Industrial Park was approved for construction at a cost of VND6,361.3 billion by the Prime Minister.
Besides, in 2023, Lang Son province established four new industrial clusters (Hop Thanh 2, Dinh Lap, Ho Son 1 and Hoa Son 1), doubling the number of industrial clusters founded in 2022 and bringing the total number of industrial clusters in the province to seven. By the end of 2023, in addition to local industrial cluster No. 2 (in Cao Loc district) in operation with 12 tenants (100% of land leased), Dinh Lap Industrial Complex started infrastructure construction.
Competent authorities completed appraising three industrial clusters (Na Duong 1, 2 and 3) and prepared licensing procedures. Besides, Lang Son province notably attracted 23 industrial companies in 2023, an increase of 20 companies over 2022 and bringing total industrial companies in the province to 226.
In 2024, the province stepped up solutions to support investors to accelerate their infrastructure construction in industrial zones; continued to accompany industrial companies to seek partners and expand markets; mobilized businesses to enhance product quality and competitiveness; and linked and joined global value chains.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Lang Son province, said: The Department of Industry and Trade worked out specific plans to advise the Provincial People's Committee to open investment promotion events and attract investors to build infrastructure in industrial complexes. Furthermore, the department focused on inviting businesses to invest in high value-added industries, applied industries and supporting industries in industrial zones. The department also advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council to issue a resolution on support for tenants in industrial zones so as to woo more industrial companies to the province, thus increasing the share of industrial value in the economy in 2024 and beyond.
In 2024, Lang Son province strives to increase the industrial production by 7 - 8%; build infrastructure for 3 - 4 established industrial zones and establish 3 - 4 new industrial zones. |
“In 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade along with other provincial agencies and district authorities have quickly completed documents for submission to the Provincial People’s Committee for approval to establish two industrial zones; concluded the renewable energy development plan to advise the Provincial People's Committee to launch an action program to attract investment capital for developing biomass, wind and hydroelectric power sources to increase local power output,” he emphasized.
Developing key industrial production sectors and establishing industrial zones will gradually help turn the industry into an important economic sector of the province and create a driving force to boost socioeconomic development of Lang Son province in 2024 and beyond.
