Since its operation, North Van Phong Port has positively contributed to the growth and development of Khanh Hoa province in particular and the region in general. Driven by growth momentum, in the coming time, the port will increasingly affirm its capacity, reputation and brand and gradually become a driving force in the north of Van Phong Economic Zone (EZ).

Ideal location

North Van Phong Port is located in the north of Van Phong EZ, a general port in the central region, in Van Phong Bay, one of natural bays considered the best in East Asia, leading to the East Sea. It is an important connection point for Europe-Asia shipping routes, a transport hub to most major economic centers of the region, and a converging point of Asia - Pacific seaports. Specially, the port is located in a sheltered bay without currents but with deep waters and shipping lanes. It lies near international shipping routes (only about 10 nautical miles from the port to Buoy 0), very convenient for large vessels to enter and exit it. The large water area is more than 20m in depth, suitable for accommodating vessels of up to 250,000 DWT. In addition, it is easily accessible to key traffic routes like National Highway 1A, North-South Railway, Buon Ma Thuot - Khanh Hoa Expressway, North-South Expressway (Nha Trang - Van Phong section) since Provincial Road 651 is about 18km long.

North Van Phong Port is chosen by many customers as a place to transport goods

Given these advantages, North Van Phong Port is chosen by many customers as a place to transport goods. At the same time, to meet its operation demand, the port invested in modern, synchronous infrastructure and equipment to quicken cargo clearance and confidently receive large ships. North Van Phong Port was recognized by the Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs in Decision 2317/QD-TCHQ as a central place for gathering, inspecting and supervising import and export goods. The port has safely and effectively received and served the largest import and export cargo vessels to the region.

Indeed, after just over five years of operation (from May 2019), the leadership of North Van Phong Port has continuously focused on utilizing existing advantages, gradually affirming its solid position. Up to now, its warehouses has been assessed by customers as the largest in the region with a modern import and export system, capable of the fastest goods handling in the region. A closed, synchronous and modern warehouse system ensures safety and environmental protection.

Continuous infrastructure upgrade to serve larger vessels

Currently, the port is reportedly capable of receiving vessels of up to 70,000DWT. It is being upgraded to serve ships of 100,000DWT and larger. The modern cargo handling equipment system with cranes, conveyors and mobile cranes has a daily capacity of about 25,000 - 28,000 tons. The warehousing system includes about 40,000 square meters of closed specialized warehouses, 60,000 square meters of general warehouses and yards, and 3,000 square meters of general warehouses. In addition, other auxiliary vehicles and equipment are also being invested synchronously.

In the coming time, the port will continue to invest more in infrastructure and auxiliary equipment to boost operations; and develop human resources to meet the need for faster cargo clearance. By 2025, the cargo throughput of North Van Phong Port is expected to reach 4-4.5 million metric tons a year.
