General Director of Zamil Steel Buildings Vietnam, Mr. Krishnakanth Kodukula
Zamil Steel Buildings Vietnam’s General Director, Mr. Krishnakanth Kodukula, shared with Vietnam Business Forum reporter in an interview about the company’s achievements during its 25-year development journey.
Nowadays, we can affirm that Zamil Steel Buildings Vietnam is one of the successful FDI enterprises in Vietnam. What are the main reasons Zamil Industrial Investment Company chose Vietnam as an investment destination in 1997?
Zamil Steel exported its first steel building projects to Vietnam and Southeast Asia in 1993. At that time, the leaders of Zamil Steel had foreseen the potential of the Vietnam and Southeast Asia markets. They quickly established two representative offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
During the four years from 1994 to 1997, while observing the development of Vietnam’s economy, politics, culture, and society, we found that Vietnam had many favorable conditions for expanding Zamil Steel’s business activities to the Asia-Pacific region thanks to its long coastline, making it a vital trading gateway with countries in the whole area. Vietnam also has a stable political economy and a young and abundant labor force, so the country is an ideal destination for FDI enterprises to set up production bases to penetrate deeper into the Asia-Pacific market.
The Pit Building of the Formula 1 Circuit in Hanoi, one of the landmark projects supplied by Zamil Steel Buildings Vietnam
Not only developing in Vietnam, but the company has also quickly expanded to the whole ASEAN region. Could you share with us the achievements of Zamil Steel Buildings Vietnam after more than 25 years of operation in Vietnam and ASEAN?
Along with the growth of the Vietnamese economy, Zamil Steel has continuously expanded over the past 25 years to become a leading supplier of steel structures in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. With a team of more than 1,100 staff and workers, Zamil Steel’s business network has been extended to Southeast Asian countries and Bangladesh with 13 representative offices. The company has supplied nearly 7,000 projects to thousands of customers across Asia-Pacific from two factories in Vietnam. We are proud that many of Zamil Steel’s projects have become essential to the socio-economic development of Vietnam and many countries in the region. Some of our landmark projects include the Pit Building of the Formula 1 Circuit in Hanoi, the factories of VinFast in Vietnam, the Phnom Penh and Siam Reap International Airports in Cambodia, the Petronas petrochemical complex in Malaysia (as part of the program project). Malaysian National Development (RAPID), and the Bangladesh Government’s cyclone shelter project on Bashan Char Island.
What do you think about the future development of ZSV in Vietnam and ASEAN?
In the next few decades, the steel building industry will continue to make great strides in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, just like in many other developed countries.
Currently, Vietnam and Southeast Asia are emerging economies with the highest growth rates in the world. Building a proper infrastructure system to facilitate this robust growth and align with the socio-economic development strategies of each country is one of the urgent requirements in the new era. In addition, the new wave of foreign direct investment shifting from major markets to Southeast Asia due to geopolitical changes will make Southeast Asia the new manufacturing hub of the world. All these conditions will be the premise for the development of the steel building industry in this region. As digitalization and industry 4.0 are transforming the manufacturing industry, we will invest further in developing digital toolsets, factory automation, and other technological advances to deliver higher-quality, more innovative products and solutions to our customers.
