President To Lam meets President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) Khuon Sudary, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, July 13, 2024

President To Lam on Saturday had a meeting with President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) Khuon Sudary as part of his State visit to the neighboring country.

They hailed collaboration between the two legislatures in the implementation of the agreement inked in November 2022, and in the organization of the first Cambodia–Laos–Viet Nam (CLV) Parliamentary Summit in December 2023.

The summit created a foundation for the three countries to further deepen their legislative ties and tighten their traditional friendship and solidarity, they noted.

The leaders vowed to maintain, preserve, constantly consolidate and promote the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between Viet Nam and Cambodia on the basis of mutual trust and respect, for the sake of their people.

Both sides agreed that the two countries will continue to maintain all-level contacts and meetings, including the parliament channel, and step up economic cooperation and connectivity, especially in border areas.

They reiterated their support for building a shared borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

The host and the guest underlined the need to uphold the role of the two legislative bodies in forging the bilateral ties, particularly in building institutions and perfecting legal systems to facilitate economic connectivity as well as the expansion of collaboration in education-training and other areas.

The sides pledged to promote the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam relations, and continue their close coordination and support at inter-parliamentary forums like the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF).
