Situated in Binh Duong province, Tan Cang Song Than ICD Joint Stock Company, an extended arm of Saigon Newport Corporation, has made great efforts to invest and apply technology to business operations, thus helping its customers to save costs, increase competitiveness and contribute positively to the overall economic development. Vietnam Business Forum Magazine’s reporter has an interview with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Director of Tan Cang Song Than ICD Joint Stock Company, on the company's investment efforts. Quoc Hung reports.
Could you please tell us positive results that the company has achieved after its equitization in 2016?
After going public, we rebuilt our goal. Accordingly, our goal is building Tan Cang Song Than ICD into a modern logistics center of the region. This is very important as it is a starting point of many investment activities. Thus, in the past three years, the company’s capacity has been greatly uplifted to better serve as an ‘extended arm’ of Saigon Newport Corporation in Binh Duong province.
How has the company invested for the strategy of building Tan Cang Song Than ICD into become a modern logistics center of the region?
Over the past three years, we have carried out many investment items, from facilities, equipment, machinery and technology to human resources. Specifically, Tan Cang Song Than ICD invested in the largest warehouse system in Southeast Asia covering a total area of 500,000 square meters. The facility is fully furnished with modern equipment and technology, fire protection and security systems to keep customers’ goods absolutely safe.
In addition, we are particularly important attention to applying technology and enhancing connectivity to the corporation's system, including member companies across the country. We also care about training and installing highly qualified personnel to meet market and industry development requirements.
These investments, combined with facilitations from Song Than Customs Branch (Binh Duong Customs Department), C/O Office of VCCI, South Binh Duong Branch of Military Bank which are located inside Tan Cang Song Than ICD, provided favorable conditions for businesses to do importing and exporting.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and before industry development requirements, how has Tan Cang Song Than ICD Joint Stock Company applied technology to business operations?
Currently, for the logistics industry, technology application is an inevitable trend and a necessary solution to increase labor productivity and reduce costs. Therefore, in the past time, at Tan Cang Song Than ICD, we have constantly applied technology and operated different management software, from warehouse management, security, human resource management to customer management software.
Recently, at Song Than Customs Branch (located in Tan Cang Song Than ICD), Binh Duong Customs Department operated mobile container scanners. Our efforts, combined with investments by authorities, have created a closed business circle for businesses to reduce costs, increase competitiveness and meet market requirements.
How will Tan Cang Song Than ICD continue to invest to keep going with customer businesses and with the economy?
Over the past years, we have launched many service packages, from transport services and customs services to delivery of total solutions for businesses based in Binh Duong province. In the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with authorities and customer businesses to deploy more railway and waterway transport services and may soon cooperate with airlines to bring their warehouses to Tan Cang Song Than ICD to ease congestion at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
