On August 17, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony awarding a certificate recognizing Quang Xuong district as meeting the new countryside standard in 2018. Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue attended the awarding ceremony. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and some State and Party leaders sent congratulatory flowers to the event.
After nearly 10 years of implementing the National Target Program for New Countryside Construction, Quang Xuong district has always been one of districts leading the province in socioeconomic development and rural construction. To date, it has all 29 communes qualified for new countryside standards, becoming the first district of Thanh Hoa to realize new countryside standards as stated in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 558 dated April 5, 2016. It has also achieved nine district-level new countryside standards. In the past years, Quang Xuong has put forth many effective solutions to carry out the National Target Program for New Countryside Construction. The district has boosted agricultural production by improving productivity, quality and efficiency and restructuring agriculture. In 2018, the average production value per hectare of cultivated soil was VND104 million and the output value per hectare of aquaculture was VND220 million. The industry and handicraft industry enjoyed strong growth, creating more than 6,000 jobs.
According to its report, Quang Xuong has mobilized VND4,786 billion for new countryside construction since 2010, including VND574.8 billion from central and provincial budgets, VND770 billion from district budget (16.1%), VND624 billion from communal budget, and VND879.3 billion from credit loans (18.2%), VND662 billion from corporate funds, VND1,089 billion from people (in the form of cash and labor); and VND194.3 billion from other sources.
By promoting these results, Quang Xuong district has targeted to have 10 communes qualified for advanced new countryside criteria and one commune certified an exemplary new countryside commune by 2020. It will strive to bring per capita income to over VND50 million and end poverty according to new criteria. By 2030, its average production growth will reach 15.5%, per capita income will be raised to VND130 million. The economic value will be constituted by 14% of agriculture, forestry and fishery, 38% of industry and construction, and 48% of service and trade.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue awarded the Certificate of New Countryside to the district.
