Quang Ngai’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) this year is estimated at nearly VND55 trillion. In comparison with 1989, its GRDP increased by 19.5 times (at an average growth of 10.49% a year). From the only VND16 billion in budget revenue in 1989, the figure increased to more than VND16.7 trillion in 2010 and is estimated to reach VND20 trillion in 2019.

Chairman of Quang Ngai provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Cang informed that his province has a synchronous and smooth traffic system, ensuring convenience for investment and development, with the National Highway No. 1A connecting the North and the South, in addition to the North-South railway system, the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Highway, the National Highway No. 24 connecting the province with the Central Highlands and southern Lao provinces, the Chu Lai airport and deep-water Dung Quat seaport that capable of receiving ships with capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes, playing as an important gateway for both domestic and international good imports and exports.

In addition, Quang Ngai’s Dung Quat Economic Zone has been planned with an area of over 45,000 ha. It is one among the economic parks with the highest preferential policies in Vietnam.

The province also has a coastline stretching 130 km, featuring stunning beaches such as Binh Chau, My Khe and Sa Huynh. Its Ly Son island district is also favourable for developing tourism, high-tech agriculture and aquaculture.

With its potential and strengths, in the near future, the province targets to focus on attracting investment in projects on the fields of industrial park infrastructure, supporting industries, petrochemical and chemical industries, hi-tech agriculture, urban infrastructure, tourism, services and aquaculture with advanced technologies, without adversely affecting the environment. At the same time, Quang Ngai also encourages private investment in healthcare, education, environment, culture and sports.
