Hanoi Craft Village Products Contest 2024

On September 26, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hanoi City held a meeting of the Jury to evaluate and classify products participating in the 2024 City Craft Village Product Competition.

After nearly 6 months of implementation and launching, the 2024 City Craft Village Product Competition (2nd time) attracted more than 287 works and sets of works from 133 organizations, individuals, artisans, and skilled workers, including 29 artisans and excellent artisans and 104 experienced workers participating in the competition from 23 districts, towns, and cities, divided into 5 groups, including Rattan, bamboo, leaf, sedge group with 49 works and sets of works from 21 organizations and individuals; Lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, fine art wood group with 54 works and sets of works from 25 organizations and individuals; Ceramics and glass group with 35 works and sets of works from 45 organizations and individuals; The weaving and embroidery group has 57 works, sets of works by 24 organizations and individuals; The stone sculpture, metal, flower art, painting group... has 82 works, sets of works by 28 organizations and individuals.

In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of the city Nguyen Dinh Hoa said: The capital Hanoi - the cradle of more than 1,350 craft villages and craft villages, converges 47/52 occupations in the total number of traditional occupations of the whole country. Of these, there are 334 craft villages, traditional occupations, and traditional craft villages recognized by the City People's Committee in 25 districts, and towns, including 269 villages recognized as Craft Villages, 60 villages recognized as Traditional Craft Villages, and 5 occupations recognized as Traditional Crafts.

To contribute to the preservation, conservation, and development of traditional occupations and craft villages and to improve the competitiveness of products in the market, the City of Hanoi assigned the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the Hanoi Craft Village Product Competition in 2024 (for the second time).

The Organizing Committee hopes that this will be one of the events to honor craft village products; create a playground and encourage artisans and skilled workers to develop new ideas, produce works that promote the cultural and historical values of craft villages, products with creativity, technique, aesthetics, high applicability and meet the needs of the domestic market and international integration.




Some contest products of Hanoi craft villages

Create an environment for authors to participate in exchanges, learn from experiences, and connect to promote trade, expand consumption markets, and increase product value. Through the Competition, it contributes to the preservation and development of traditional occupations, and traditional craft villages, preserving and promoting national cultural identity.

The Competition is also an opportunity to connect craft villages, and raft establishments, and cooperate for mutual development. The 2024 Hanoi Craft Village Product Competition is also one of the important events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi Capital, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and major national and city holidays in 2024.

The specific scoring criteria applied must be truly handicraft products that are creative, typical, quintessential, and aesthetic, have traditional values, are environmentally friendly, and have commercial value among similar products in the competition, fully meeting the criteria set forth by the Competition.

In particular, the organizing committee also emphasizes environmental friendliness, production technology that minimizes environmental pollution, and production materials that have little or no impact on the environment. Priority is given to products that use recycled materials with aesthetics, products with beautiful, unique designs, good artistic and aesthetic values, unique patterns and colors, and traditional cultural values; Small, compact, sophisticated products for gifts, presents, and souvenirs for tourists. Products imbued with traditional features convey and express the unique culture of Hanoi.



The judging panel reviews the entries

Through the Hanoi Craft Village Product Competition in 2024, craft villages will focus more on innovation, design, etc. so that craft village products both preserve the cultural identity of the homeland and the country, while at the same time making improvements suitable for the modern integration trend, affirming the position of Hanoi craft village products in the country and the international market. In addition, it contributes to preserving and developing craft villages, motivating generations of artisans and skilled workers to pass on their skills to the next generation and preserve and promote the cultural and historical beauty of the thousand-year-old capital.

The winning works will be displayed at the 20th Craft Village Fair in 2024 organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from October 3 to 6, 2024, and honored at the 3rd Hanoi Agricultural Products and Craft Village Festival in 2024 organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee for 5 days, scheduled to take place at the end of November 2024 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
