Luong Thi Diem Trang is known as a businesswoman who owns many large enterprises in Tien Giang province. Her two companies, My Tho Port Joint Stock Company and Ngoc An Nguyen Co., Ltd, recently won a marina bid. This project is expected to promote location advantages beside the Tien River and create a new vitality for Tien Giang tourism industry.

Valuing quality and service

Since its operation in 2008, My Tho Port Joint Stock Company has gradually built a good reputation in a series of industries, particularly in port operation; trucking, inland waterway transport and real estate.  Its biggest success is running My Tho Port based in the Mekong Delta, one of six Vietnamese seaport systems, licensed to receive 5-star passenger ships travelling along the Mekong River. From a few 5-star passenger ships at first, to now with a number of international cruise liners carrying about 20,000 visitors are coming to experience the Mekong River each year. In 2018 alone, the port welcomed about 22,000 international visitors on 230 ships.

Ms. Trang said: “My Tho Port has built its brand on reputation and trust among customers. We always uphold quality and service attitude and always make customers confident and satisfied with us. Currently, My Tho Port is the biggest recipient of Vietnam-Cambodia passenger ships in the Mekong Delta region and the most stable and most developed southwestern port that provides shipping agency services, supplies fuel and serves foreign passenger ships.”

On its development path, My Tho Port has continuously invested in more equipment, expanded the wharf system, diversified business activities and accessed various economic sectors to match social needs. Trang emphasized, "Service quality and cost are the two most important criteria for My Tho Port.” The concrete evidence for this right direction is a treble growth of cargo throughput in the last three years. Currently, the port is focusing its strong resources in technical infrastructure to promote water-borne container cargo transshipment development. To ensure sustainable development, My Tho Port will cooperate with logistics service providers to form a closed supply chain from import and export to warehousing. This will be an important plus for customers, especially factories in the region to reduce the time and effort for tracking and monitoring many separate services, thus cutting expenses and product cost.

Truly classy marina

In July 2019, the Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee allowed My Tho Port JSC and its partner, Ngoc An Nguyen Co., Ltd, to invest VND665 billion to build a marina project in Ward 4, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province. With a water surface area of 8,210 square meters and a wharf length of 325 meters, the marina can serve 4,000 passengers a day, four Vietnam-Cambodia passenger ships a day, 10 high-speed boats at the same time and many small boats. The project is a mooring site for ships and floating restaurants on the Tien River.

She said, "My Tho City is endowed with various advantages to develop the hospitality industry as it lies on the Tien River, featuring the unique and charming natural landscape of the Mekong Delta region. At present, more ships are docking or transiting My Tho to other places in the region and My Tho Port cannot afford them. Therefore, the marina project is necessary. The project will not only complete wharfs, terminals and logistics services to support development goals of Tien Giang province, but also ensure the landscape beauty of My Tho City. At the same time, it will promote tourism development, strengthen waterway transport, gradually integrate into the general development trend of the region, and introduce characteristic products and cultural identity of Tien Giang in particular and the country in general.
