Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd Dedicated to Forest Planting and Protection

Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd, formerly known as Dak To Investment, Forestry and Industrial Development Company, was established in 2003 under Decision 339/QD-UB of the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee. In the past 15 years, the company has constantly made efforts to perform the task of planting and protecting forests, thus helping green the homeland and create jobs for local laborers.

Completing assigned tasks well

At present, Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd is assigned by the government to manage 31,060.86 ha of forests and forestland located in three districts of Dak To, Tu Mo Rong and Sa Thay, and grow ginseng under the forest canopy. The company was one of the first two units in Vietnam to successfully implement the Sustainable Forest Management Plan certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for the period from May 2014 to April 2019.

In 2018, the company earned revenue of more than VND28.75 billion (fulfilling 114.5% of the full-year plan), a profit before tax of VND1.83 billion (209.2% of the plan) and tax payment of more than VND688 million (109.4% of the plan). The life quality of employees has been significantly improved. In the past year, Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd has also managed, protected the forest area and provided forest environmental services for 24,688.63 ha out of 24,699.4 ha, reaching 99.95% of the plan. Taking care of planted forests, building infrastructure for forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting, all met the planned targets.

As for Ngoc Linh ginseng business and development plan, Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd actively balances and prioritizes capital sources to plant, care for and protect ginseng gardens planted from 1999 to 2018. Specifically, in the past year, the company has planted over 2 ha out of 3 ha of Ngoc Linh ginseng and tended, managed and protected over 15 ha. “Ngoc Linh ginseng is a precious national product, a key crop for sustainable economic development of Kon Tum province in general and sustainable poverty reduction. Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd is very honored and proud to be assigned by the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee to preserve and develop this treasure. And so far, the preservation of the original genome has certainly been successful and gradually developing in a stable and sustainable manner. Enriching forest resources

In addition to highly effective forestry business, over the past time, Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd has achieved important successes in public utility, and forest capital management and development. In afforestation, the company determined multi-purpose benefits of planted forests: Achieving the goal of economic welfare for local people to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty sustainably and direct people to sustainable forestry. Then, the firm has chosen three-leafed pines, which grow very fast with a broad canopy, have economically valued timber and long, stable pine resin production time. Thus, in only three years from 2014 to 2016, it convinced, explained and mobilized local people to grow forests and enjoy benefits with the company. They took over more than 1,300 ha of planted forests from replanted projects.

“In 2018, we actively launched forest protection and fire prevention plans in the dry season, carried out forest protection and forest product management plans; and implemented regulations to coordinate with stakeholders in forest protection and management. Thus, in 2018, no forest fires occurred and forest resources were strictly protected,” Director Chung said.

With its continuous efforts, Dak To Forestry Co., Ltd is strongly confident about its more sustainable business operations and forest planting and protection in Kon Tum province.
