Speeding up reform and modernizing the customs sector is a key strategic task of Can Tho Customs Department, helping it successfully accomplish its tasks and support local economic development and integration.
Accelerating reform, modernization and business support
In the past years, despite numerous difficulties and challenges, Can Tho Customs Department has still managed customs affairs effectively, and enforced customs laws in Can Tho City, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long and Tra Vinh provinces, and successfully collected the State budget.
With effective reform and modernization, Can Tho Customs Department has helped facilitate trade, simplify customs procedures, reduce customs clearance time, improve the investment environment and enhance national competitiveness while controlling compliance with customs laws and protecting national interests and sovereignty.
Can Tho Customs Department has intensified information technology (IT) in customs operations and effectively deployed the VNACCS/VCIS automatic electronic clearance system, 24/7 online public service and tax collection system, automatic cargo monitoring systems at warehouses, yards, ports and other professional IT systems for customs.
Can Tho Customs Department also publicizes customs administrative procedures; applies the ASEAN Single Window (for exchange of information on the electronic certificate of origin Form D with all nine ASEAN member countries); and expands the application of the National Single Window (connecting 13 ministries and branches). In addition, the department also focuses on building and developing Customs - Enterprise partnerships; organizes conferences on the deployment of documents and dialogues with enterprises; informs policies and procedures for enterprises in many forms; actively meets, exchanges, and promptly removes difficulties faced by enterprises to ensure customs clearance of goods, keep uninterrupted import and export, and facilitate trade flows.
Digital transformation for smart customs
Currently, Technology 4.0 digital transformation in customs administration is an objective requirement, an extremely important key to building digital customs and smart customs, and a very important driving force for construction, development and protection of the country.
Successfully adopting digital transformation and building smart customs is one of the most important tasks of the customs sector, including Can Tho Customs Department, in 2022 and 2021 - 2025 phase and to 2030.
Mr. Vu Anh, Director of Can Tho Customs Department, said, Can Tho Customs Department is determined to successfully carry out digital transformation, build smart customs and achieve the goal of being the Top 10 performers of digital transformation in 2022 and beyond.
In addition, the department will focus on successfully carrying out its key tasks of collecting tax assigned by the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs; speeding up administrative reforms, trade facilitation and investment climate improvement; actively and closely coordinating with local agencies to effectively enforce Resolution 45/2022/QH15 dated January 1, 2022 of the National Assembly on pilot implementation of several specific mechanisms and policies on Can Tho City development; and facilitate investment projects in the locality such as Lot B - O Mon gas power project, Oncology Hospital, O Mon Industrial Park, Vinh Thanh Industrial Park, and especially Mekong Delta Center for Agricultural Cooperation, Production, Processing and Consumption in Can Tho City, thus helping improve the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and boosting investment inflows.
