Concentrating on advancing rural development
Situated in the thriving economic-urban enclave of Tien Giang province's western region, Cai Lay stands as a prime hub for economic growth and investment allure. The province envisions this district as a key player in agriculture, thanks to its location and an efficient waterway transportation system, providing ample opportunities for commerce, services and the handicraft industry.
In recent years, Cai Lay has witnessed substantial and robust socio-economic progress. The agricultural and fishery sectors have transitioned toward specialized farming, incorporating cutting-edge technologies. Notably, the district excels in rice cultivation (primarily in the northern communes along National Highway 1) and fruit production, particularly jackfruit and durian. The Cai Lay Durian Collective has earned recognition from the Intellectual Property Department.
The industrial landscape is characterized by diverse products, with heightened quality and competitiveness, particularly in milling, fruit packaging, sewing and processing. Currently, the district has 60 businesses and 239 production establishments in the industry and handicraft sector.
A decade of committed implementation of the new rural construction program has visibly transformed the district. A well-connected and integral transportation system has emerged, playing an important role in socio-economic development. Numerous lucrative production models have bolstered farmer incomes, contributing to an overall improvement in people's prosperity.
The education system has expanded both in scale and quality, and regular healthcare is now accessible to the populace through standardized medical stations in all communes and towns. 99.39% of households have access to standardized clean water. Presently, all 15 communes in the district meet the standards for new rural construction, with five achieving advanced new rural construction standards, and Binh Phu town attaining civilized urban standards, recognized by the Prime Minister's Decision 434/QD-TTg on April 24, 2023.
In the coming time, Cai Lay is poised to further intertwine its economic development with new rural construction initiatives. The district aims to elevate eight communes to advanced new rural construction standards, with over two communes meeting model new rural construction standards, ultimately positioning Cai Lay district as a beacon of advanced new rural construction by 2025.
Promoting investment attraction
Mr. Tran Quoc Binh, Chairman of the Cai Lay District People's Committee, articulated a forward-looking strategy to propel Cai Lay into a realm of sustainable agricultural excellence, marked by the application of cutting-edge technology. The vision encompasses the establishment and replication of innovative production-processing-trading linkage models, with a deliberate shift toward proactive supply over the long term.
In the realm of industry and construction, the district fervently encourages investments in groundbreaking industrial projects. Emphasis is placed on the industrial corridor flanking the Nguyen Van Tiep Canal - provincial highway 865, creating a nexus for milling, polishing, and rice warehousing development. The nucleus of this transformative endeavor is the Phu Cuong industrial cluster, radiating connectivity with My Phuoc Tay in Cai Lay town. The sub-region nestled between the expressway and National Highway 1 is earmarked for the cultivation of high-tech industries. Simultaneously, the area bracketed by provincial highway 864 and the Tien River beckons investments in the Long Trung industrial cluster and enterprises in Tam Binh (provincial highway 864), specializing in preliminary and fruit processing. The corridor bordering Cai Lay town is envisioned as a thriving hub for trade, services, residential expanses and commercial housing.
Furthermore, in the domain of trade and services, Cai Lay town passionately fosters the evolution of modern retail landscapes, encompassing supermarkets and convenience store chains. Simultaneously, there's a commitment to nurturing tourism that harmonizes with the preservation of natural landscapes and environments, seamlessly woven into the fabric of local cultural identity.
"Endowed with its location and latent potential, Cai Lay stands poised for myriad opportunities and advantages in future development. Cai Lay district ardently promotes and facilitates favorable conditions for economic sectors to invest or embark on joint ventures, contributing unequivocally to the and sustainable enrichment of the district," stated Mr. Tran Quoc Binh.
