Mr. Le Van Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Binh Thuan Business Association, noted that in 2023, the local business community experienced a gradual recovery amidst numerous latent global economic risks. These included supply shortages, disruptions in supply chains, escalating inflation and a contraction in consumer demand, all of which adversely affected production and exports. Concurrently, the province grappled with challenges related to the quality of growth, productivity, performance and economic competitiveness.

In response to these challenges, Binh Thuan province has been steadfast in implementing proposed socio-economic development tasks and solutions. These initiatives aim to facilitate business development, stimulate economic growth, enhance investment attraction and promotion, and expedite project implementation. Consequently, the province’s socio-economic performance has remained stable and has shown positive development. The business community has continued to evolve in both scale and quality.

The Binh Thuan Business Association has effectively served as a bridge for local companies and authorities in all business activities. It has reflected recommendations and provided opinions to provincial agencies and authorities on strategies, plans, mechanisms, policies and laws. These efforts are aimed at improving the business environment and supporting business development for the benefit of society, the country, and the companies themselves. Simultaneously, the association has promptly communicated the Provincial People’s Committee’s directions to its members, particularly through regular working schedules with businesses and investors, to alleviate business and investment obstacles.

In addition to its regular operations, the association has been proactive in addressing challenges faced by businesses, promptly communicating these issues to relevant authorities such as the Department of Planning and Investment and the Government Office for resolution. It has also coordinated with the State Bank of Vietnam, Binh Thuan Branch to facilitate three conferences aimed at connecting banks and businesses, thereby addressing barriers to accessing credit resources.

In collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade, the association has organized events to inform businesses about Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and worked with other agencies to conduct training courses, showcase products, and establish direct connections between products and distribution systems in Ho Chi Minh City. This has been part of a broader effort to forge cooperative ties and expand product consumption markets across various provinces and cities.

The association has also entered into a memorandum of cooperation with the Vietnam International Arbitration Center to provide legal support and address any complaints or disputes that may arise within companies. Furthermore, it has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Small and Medium Enterprises Association and the Lam Dong Business Association to facilitate the exchange of work experiences and information, thereby enhancing trade connections among their member companies.

In response to the “National Tourism Year 2023: Binh Thuan - Green Convergence”, the Binh Thuan Business Association organized various activities. It worked in conjunction with relevant units to commemorate Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day on October 13, assisting businesses in document preparation, candidate selection, and recommending award recipients to the Provincial People’s Committee. To strengthen its relationship with members, the association’s standing board visits member companies monthly, presenting congratulatory flowers on their founding days and gaining insights into their business situations, challenges and suggestions.

Mr. Le Van Loi acknowledged that both domestic and global prospects will present a mix of opportunities and challenges in the future. The association, for its part, will continue its efforts to bridge the gap between local authorities and enterprises, while also seeking to expand its membership.
