Promoting Magnificent Ha Giang Tourism

The Secretariat of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee has put forth the view that Ha Giang will be built into a national tourist centre, with the foundation being the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, plus the diversity of ethnic cultures. The Government has also approved Ha Giang tourism investment planning. Ha Giang province’s leadership has focused on changing the approach to tourism development resources.

At the Tourism Promotion Conference themed 'magnificent Giang Ha tourism' organised by Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee in Ha Giang, Mr Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee, said, Ha Giang is highly appreciated for its natural resources, natural landscapes and cultural diversity, especially Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark where many outstanding values are found. In the past time, Ha Giang has carried out consistent open policies to attract external resources for tourism development. By 2020, Ha Giang tourism will become a spearhead economic sector of the province, efficiently tap tourist attractions and invest in high-quality tourist products to make Ha Giang a well-branded charming destination.

In 2016, the tourism sector of Ha Giang province welcomed 853,746 visitors, up 11.9 per cent over 2015, including 176,537 foreigners, up 21.1 per cent. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND795 billion in the year, up 13 per cent over 2015. In the first eight months of 2017, Ha Giang served 700,000 visitors, up 12 per cent year on year. He stressed that “Ha Giang tourism sector however has certain limitations and inadequacies. The sector is fledging and lack of infrastructure facilities, interesting products and services and insufficient human resources. As a result, the tourism sector of Ha Giang province is still below its true potential.

Mr Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that anyone wishes to visit Ha Giang at least once in life to discover the beauty and geomorphology of this frontier land. Nevertheless, Ha Giang is still hiding enormous natural resources, tangible and intangible cultural values needed to be tapped to develop the tourism sector and realise the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector. In the coming time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will direct relevant units to study, survey and restore some attractive traditional festivals in Ha Giang to attract tourists. Besides, the ministry will direct General Department of Sports and Physical Training to bring international and national sports events to Ha Giang province.

The conference also received mixed opinions and suggestions for tourism development of Ha Giang. The province was advised to develop its tourism on the basis of ethnic cultures, perfect investment and business support policies, raise public awareness of raising the quality of accommodations in the tourism community, accelerating traffic infrastructure upgrading and electronic marketing.

At the conference, the Ha Giang Tourism Association signed tourism development cooperation agreements with tourism associations in Nghe An, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa. Ha Giang Tourism Promotion Centre and Ha Giang-based enterprises inked cooperation agreements with Hanoi Tourism Corporation, CTC Community Tourism Club, Vietnam - Hanoi Tourism Company, Phuc Group and HanoiRedtour. Hoang Su Phi District People’s Committee signed a memorandum of agreement on investment with Asia International Finance Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.
