Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has issued guidelines on a project to explore, exploit and process bauxite ores in districts of Quang Uyen and Phuc Hoa in northern Cao Bang province.
The government allowed setting up a joint venture with foreign partners to carry out the project, under the principle: Vietnamese side holding a majority stake in mining, just investing in an alumina production plant with an annual capacity of 50,000 when ensuring enough feedstock for a 300,000-ton-of-alumina-per-year plant of Cao Giang Co. Ltd.
Licensing the exploitation and processing of bauxite ore in the above areas will be considered only after a report on exploring mine reserves is ratified by the Mineral Reserve Assessment Council. (Youth)
