Ben Tre Province Develops Tourism Potential

Recently, a foreign tourism expert said there was a stimulus for the development of tourism in Ben Tre province when seeing the construction of the Rach Mieu bridge.

 

At a seminar ‘Tourism development in combination with festivals,’ held by the Ben Tre Department of Trade and Tourism one year ago, many experts spoke highly of the tourism potential in Ben Tre province as it had seas, forests, gardens and rivers, as well as a healthy ecology.

 

Also, the province’s performances of amateur artists interested many people. The province has 13 cultural and historical relic sites, including the Dong Khoi relic site in Mo Cau, the temple of patriot teacher Nguyen Dinh Chieu in Ba Tri district, the grave of teacher Vo Truong Toan, the temple of Lanh Binh Thang, the relic site of Vice President Nguyen Thi Dinh and the Ho Chi Minh route on the sea, the bird sanctuary of Vam Ho, and relic sites of Oc, Tien, Qui and Phhá»ng islets...

 

With these advantages, Ben Tre province has great potential for tourism development. However, the province needs a stimulus to tap the advantage. This is the Rach Mieu bridge, linking Ben Tre and Tien Giang province.

 

According to the Department of Trade and Tourism of Ben Tre, to prepare for the future development of tourism when the Rach Mieu bridge opens to traffic, Ben Tre’s authorities have developed many projects attract Vietnamese and foreign investors. Ben Tre has conditions suitable with the development of tourism products. Local authorities are forming and expanding tourist sites of the Phung islet, the Vam Ho bird sanctuary, the Oc islet, the flower and bonsai garden of Cai Mon, the Ben Tre trade centre and cultural festivals.

 

Ben Tre is calling for Vietnamese and foreign investors to develop tourism projects in the province. These include projects on building an eco-tourist site in Phung islet in Chau Thanh district with an estimated investment capital of US$5 million; the Vam Ho eco-tourist site, consisting of an entertainment area and a water park, in Ba Tri district, with an estimated capital of US$5 million; the My Thháºnh An entertainment area, with water entertainment facilities, in Ben Tre town with an estimated capital of US$10 million. Other projects include the Oc islet eco-tourist site in Giong Trom district with a total area of 1,200 hectares and investment capital of US$5 million; the Ben Tre hotel, meeting the three star standard with 70 rooms, which is capitalised at US$5 million; and the eco-tourist site of Thoi Thua, Thua Duc in Binh Dai district with a total investment capital of US$5 million.
